Jim Tates

Regional President, Southwest Region

Jim Tates was named regional president in June 2009, responsible for leading the Company’s business development, marketing and sales efforts in the southwestern U.S. He is based in Houston, Texas.

Prior to this appointment, Jim was vice president of the North America Store Sales organization, which serviced the Company’s retail partners, The Home Depot and Lowe’s. He joined ScottsMiracle-Gro in May 2005 as vice president of the Company’s Home Depot Business Development Team, based in Atlanta.

Before joining the Company, Jim had more than 20 years of sales and account experience with several consumer companies, including Longlite LLC, Philips Lighting Company and Personal Care Group.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Cortland State University (New York), and completed his MBA in general management at Villanova University (Pa.).
