A Message from Our Chief Environmental Officer

At ScottsMiracle-Gro, our business is focused on providing consumers with the best solutions to enjoy healthy lawns and gardens and enjoying the benefits of outdoor green spaces. By the very nature of our business, we are committed to the environment and furthering the development of lawns, gardens and outdoor landscapes.

Our environmental strategy is built on a framework of product development processes that incorporate stewardship and sustainability best practices, collaboration with environmental advocacy and governmental organizations, and outreach to consumers and stakeholders.

We maintain ongoing interaction with environmental groups, water quality advocates as well as state, local and federal regulatory and governmental agencies. We share data on our business operations, along with our insights on consumer behavior. From this dialogue, we've been able to address critical environmental issues, such as water quality. ScottsMiracle-Gro recognizes the importance of water conservation and use, and is leading the discussion around this topic in the lawn and garden industry.

Through our collaboration with Chesapeake Bay and Great Lakes water quality stakeholders, ScottsMiracle-Gro committed to a consumer outreach program, sharing with homeowners ways they can help protect the environment through common lawn care and gardening practices. We've also gathered valuable feedback from key stakeholders and other environmental groups as we reassessed our product offering. Among the outcomes of these efforts, we've reformulated our lawn fertilizer products and reduced the amount of phosphorus in our lawn fertilizer product line.

Looking ahead, we will continue to explore ways to improve our operations and processes for the betterment of our environment.
